I guess I'm a frustrated artist. I opened The Tortoise Shell to satisfy my creative talents and challenge myself professionally...that was 25+ years ago!! I started the shop in a quaint Victorian House in Zanesville, Ohio. I expanded and moved to Upper Arlington in 1989, where my children had gone to school before we moved to Zanesville.
I continually search for quality, aesthetic designs, color, and texture when selecting lines and merchandise for the store. As my husband will attest, I am a collector of beautiful things... many, many things!
We go to the Columbus Gift Mart; Atlanta; Highpoint, NC; and it is unending…the beautiful and distinctive options available.
I try to live my life by spending my time and my money in ways and on things that are important to me. That’s why you’ll find several lines that have products MADE IN THE USA.
I believe in customer service from people…YOU WILL NEVER GET A VOICEMAIL MESSAGE when you call my store.
My daughter, Molly, managed the store for years and still stops in to lend her expertise regarding merchandise and her ability to find the perfect gift for every occasion still amazes me! Our staff is extremely loyal and has a wealth of retail experience. If you need advice, suggestions—just ask.
